xkcd post really truly is forthcoming, I just need to figure out a way to fix the video first. IMPORTANT QUESTION: If I shot something holding my camera sideways, is there an easy way to take the video and rotate the whole video 90 degrees?

(For reference, I have a macbook with iDVD and iMovie bundled. Help?)

I wrote a drabble for english class that I liked enough to post in the Kattales. Go read!

College remains fun. I am slowly making better friends (as opposed to aquantinces). Ria has a scanner which I may attack at some point. I'm trying to get together a RHPS expidition for this Saturday.

***

I have gotten back into Neopets in a hella-bad-serious way. By which I mean, I have made an excel spreadsheet and am keeping track of how much money I bring in and where it comes from. Yeeeeeeeahhhh...

Vegan Pizza is super-delicious. Vegan Baklava is just about the greatest thing I have ever eaten in my life. Boston has one of two vegan pizza parlours in the country --the other one is in Seattle. (Ksatyr and I went on Saturday night and it was AWESOME)

Free, reasonably intense, yoga classes rock my socks.

I used too many stars in this post. :(

Easy? Yes. Free? No.
Go to the Apple site and upgrade to Quicktime Pro ($29 I think)
Open the movie in QuickTime Player,
Choose Window > Show Movie Properties.
In the Properties window, select the video track and click Visual Settings.
To rotate the movie, click one of the rotate buttons.

Is piece of pie, easy as cake! </Boris Badinov voice>

I do this rotation thing frequently, actually - remember my little mouse jumping up and down it the tube that I put on youtube? That was taken the wrong way round.

I forget which software I used, I think it was http://www.tmpgenc.net/

I'm having withdrawal symptoms, I should go home now.

There's a free iMovie plug-in called TurnClip:

After you rotate the video, use the Aspect Ratio plug-in (also free) to un-distort the results (Video pixels are rectangular in the y axis; if you rotate the video, everything will look stretched along the x axis.):

Really strong work, Dan. I'd had that xkcd comic on my desk for awlihe but I couldn't find the hook so I moved on. Which is the better password? has the kind of concision, perplexity, and guesswork I prize in the first act and, like you point out, the answer isn't a little counter-intuitive.
