[Poll #1014404]

For those who wish to know, my answers are that I do have several journals that I ocassionally use to write shit I don't want everyone on my flist to read (ie, if you give enough of a shit about me to actually go and find them, then you're probably one of the people who I don't mind reading.)

They are all linked pretty damn obviously out of my userinfo and/or flist, but I don't update any of them often. If you poke around long enough, you can find some pretty open (for me) stuff.

The obvious reason I brought all this up was that I posted in one of them (I'll even make it easy, it's in Alis's journal) and that sent me on a thoughtstream of 'why?'

Why bother to write a perfectly open and free for everyone to see journal entry, and then toss it into a journal very few other people read. Either it's open, and I want reinforcement, comments, and people to post, or it's not, and I should just either use a filter or post it completely privately.

Personally, I think it's the idea of risk --Ooo, I'm doing something on the edge, putting my emotions out there for anyone to find --if they bother looking. Or even more so, I think it's the same idea I stated above --that this way, I limit my journal to only the people I know care. I'm guessing that the hundred or so people who read my journal don't actually read every word I write --hell, more then half of you (I'd guess) I just skim past. But there are people who I definently care about to read every word, and I'd like to wish I meant that much to some of you out there.

Annnnd I'm out. Press the clicky buttons now, 'k?

Heh, in my case, the poll should have checkboxes.
-I used to have a journal on a site that used LJ's codebase that was for ranting, and only one other person knew about it. I actually forget whether the entries were public or friends-only.
-I currently have a 'follow a trail of links' journal on another journaling site, but is linked from my LJ
-I have 3 other LJ's that are for various not-particularly-secret purposes. One for a comic, one for my writings, and one as a dumping ground for notes for a project I came up with about a year ago.
-I also have a couple mostly redundant journals scattered across the web in other online communities.

Actually, I don't read the other journals of yours that I've come across because I figured that you wouldn't want me to unless you had told me about them. Just because I can read it doesn't mean I should. I didn't realize that gave the impression that I don't give much of a shit about you.

I give a damn. Sometimes depression just takes everything away from you, or you have to take yourself away from everyone to stop yourself hurting them more.

why what? why do i have a sekrit journal? or why do i never update it?

1) because i had this idea that some people just don't want to see some of the crap that floats around in my head &

2) then i decided even *those* people (who have access to the sekrit journal) wouldn't either so i ended up never using it.

so much for that. heh.

Hmm, I entered text in the Why field but it didn't come through (or so it appears). So, here's my answer to that question.

I don't have a secret journal because I figure that anything that is too private to share with my flist, is too private to put up online. I try to live by the saying (it's gone around here and there): Don't write down anything that you don't want to see on the front page of the of the "New York Times."

As for not reading any of your other journals (or anyone else's secret journals for that matter), well, I like someone above, believe that if you wanted me to read anything that isn't on this one, you'd have told me about it. If you haven't, then, I assume it's not for me to go looking 'cause it's none of my business.

Great idea. Our state has been doing this for about 20 years. Every March, there's a bump in our revenue as peploe file their tax returns early, looking for that refund.
