Search
Uhhhh...search? What? Where? How do I do that.
*notices the little search box in the corner of her itunes for the first time EVER!
Holy shit! When'd I get that?!
"sex", how many songs come up? 19 (Mostly because of the album "Never mind the Sex pistols, here's Bongo's Bass and Bob!")
"death", how many songs come up? 5
"love", how many songs come up? 58...and as I was still on playcount, the first to pop up was "Marvin I love you" Rock!
"you", how many songs come up? 132...Exactly the same as Beth-izzle! Rock!!
That was fun.
And me and that search button are going to have a LOT of fun together.
"What's this playlist Kat?"
"Songs that have a q somewhere in their info" (104...lots of P.D.Q.Bach)

on 2006-02-07 03:27 am (UTC)The search is supposed to mirror Spotlight (http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/spotlight/) for Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger", which indexes and searches your entire hard drive (so, for example, if I pull down the spotlight and search for "death" it takes me...8 seconds to get the 70 occurances of files that have "death" in their title, including a Halo map entitled "Death Island", a savegame from Wesnoth called "The Valley of Death", message logs from a friend whose msn address includes "death", several folders entitled "deathmatch", emails to indicate comments from an lj user with "death" in their name, one contact (aforesaid person whose msn address includes "death"), one image (the Homeworld 2 map "Death or Glory") and the song "Death of the Prodigy dancers").
I'm not trying to pimp Apple here, but it's pretty good. Although Quicksilver (http://quicksilver.blacktree.com/) did, and still does, it better, for iTunes and the OS in general. Because as good as spotlight is, I still can't select (say) the song Only this Moment and have it play next in party shuffle simply by typing
<Alt+Space>, Only th<down><down><enter>

on 2006-02-07 11:47 am (UTC)Tho dear, you really don't need to pimp apple to me. I come from a duel-OS household, and was unfortunate enough to wind up with a Windowsbox for my first internet-enabled computer.
I like me some powermacs...*drools*

on 2006-02-07 10:00 pm (UTC)It's kinda not fair though. I don't have any, what with not being in America. I may have to resort to hurling win98 CDs at you.
