Also, what is it with all these fics with Sheldon and chess? I mean, not that I object, as it is very him, but goddamnit, I suck at chess and will therefore never manage to adequately seduce the man.

...yes, yes, I'm going to bed.

MOOP!

Postscript 1: Yes, this is why I have a twitter, to save you lot from posts like these. Oh wait. Apologies.

Postscript 2: Tonight will be an interesting test of what direction people read their livejournals in. Does this entry make any sense whatsoever? Have you read those that come before?

I myself read chronologically. Like you should.

Postscript 3: Wevs, you know? It's my journal and I'll post if I want to.

Unrelatedly, "wevs" is pretty much my word for the month.

Are there even journals that make sense when not read in chronological order? I mean, I guess some comms do, on a short timescale, but over a long timescale someone is bound to refer back to something that already happened... Even episodic comics (like XKCD) read better if read in order. Archive crawls are a point of logical survival.

Non chronological reading is for reference books.

I dearly wish (and have for years) that LJ made reading ones friends page chronologically easier. As such, the best I can do is to try to update frequently enough that it's effectively chronologically. This fails when someone posts a burst of entries.

Chronologically

... because otherwise it would be Chronoillogically.

(Well, except when I get distracted by something1 while working my way back to where I left off reading.)

1. But I'm sure that never happens to you.

Chronoillogically made me giggle. Good word!

I skim non-chronologically, then read my way back up the page.

You could try Go instead?

That would involve me learning Go. I don't think I'd be better.

Go is much simpler to learn the basic rules of than chess.

'sides, if you you learn it, then I might have somoene who isn't ridiculously better than me to play with for once ^_^

From what they've shown on TV it seems like Sheldon would be more into Three Dimensional Chess anyway. I think you'd have a better chance of seducing him with a killer knowledge of physics and some kick ass Halo skills.

PS: When you said fics, Sheldon and chess I assumed you were talking about fanfics and The Big Bang Theory.

I was indeed, but it's probably a little clearer which Sheldon I meant if you've read the previous two entries and known I had BBT on the mind.

(And, I mean, a week ago I wouldn't know the names of any single character on the show, so, yeah. That. But I'm woefully pop-culture deprived at all times.)

I read chronologically, though I glance at things as I'm scrolling down the page to see where I left off. Curiously enough, this entry did catch my eye on the way down. I was like "Wait, what, Sheldon? She hasn't mentioned BBT so far... yeah, I gotta read these previous entries. :D"

I back-back-back to where I last left off and read forward.

I do occasionally open some things (big or lj-cut or linky) in a separate tab and read it once I'm caught up. That bit may or may not follow chronology.
