Throat is being hurty. What has been up with this year, I feel like I have gotten sick about eight times more often than usual, which is a profoundly shitty thing. Am going to have to hit my immune system with rocks or something, except I doubt that that would actually help.

***

jere7my dragged me to Spookadelica last night, which was totally fun burlesque and "horror". Am seriously seriously debating going to J. Cannibal's Feast of Flesh next Saturday, despite having to be up at eight AM the following morning, and having a party at Matt3's that I am also debating.

(Doing both is...possible. It's not a very good idea, but when have I ever claimed not to be addicted to bad ideas?)

Also, in a perfect world, I would convince Lauren and/or Emily to come to the zombie-themed party/concert/burlesque show, because they would love it, but they keep gallivanting off to spend the weekends with their respective contract mates.

***

Went to the beach yesterday, since it was on the way to MICE. Or rather, since as I was leaving for MICE, Annika was all "the weather is amazing, I want to go swimming, LET'S GO TO THE BEACH!"

Besides Haeden and I being menaced by a jellyfish, and the water being _frigid freezing cold_, the beach was awesome, and there was lying in the sun and admiring my friends in swimsuits, which was pretty nice, and combing the beach for sea-glass, which worked significantly better than it ever has before.

***

MICE was also nice, though I am very very broke, and so didn't buy anything (yay me?) except a one-dollar sketch of a dinosaur from Ria, which I didn't actually buy some much as man her table and watch her stuff for her.

Also, I encouraged other people to buy things from her, specifically because then she buys me an pan. Best roommate ever? Best roommate ever!

OH! And I wrote a strange and awkward mini-comic (Entitled "Let's Make Art In Our Artbooks") that I will have to scan sometime, and I started to write a much much better mini-comic (Entitled "Let's Make More Art In Our Artbooks"), but I got distracted from that by having to stress out and write my words for the day. Next time, I think the rule is to write the words before I go to the beach.

***

Got dinner with JoshZed, which was nice. Need more excuses to actually travel as far as his place, except that I forget that the green line portion of that is way longer then I ever think it is, and I should plan timing accordingly.

He told me that catching up with Methods of Rationality (I am woefully woefully behind) was a better use of my time than just about anything else, including writing. I responded that there are apparently dire consequences out should I break my streak, which led to a discussion of whether or not he could sufficiently distract me around days 98 or 99, mostly through the idea of causing sufficient damage to the people and locations that have computers I could borrow.

This is arguably one of our more normal conversations.

***

I have a calendar of hot AustralianMIT girls1 on my wall. This month has a lovely woman lifting weights. December has girls in bras made of ethernet cables, tying each other to a server rack.

The proceeds go to a scholorship fund set up by a group of MIT students. It's for charity!

Biking is totes awesome, and can be surprisingly fun with someone else, solong as your legs aren't dying and they aren't going significantly faster than you. Also, ++ for riding late at night when there are much fewer cars around --j7y and I wound up taking back roads home2 from Spookadelica, at least in part because I've been turning down all suggested actual bike rides since I ride practically slower than I walk, and this one was short enough that I figured I could keep up.

But it was very nice to be shooting down the street, just chatting and enjoying the night. Also, biking with other people helps me learn/remember the arm signals, so points there.

***

This is a crazy-long entry, but then again, I had a crazy-busy yesterday. I'm gonna go put breakfast into my stomach now, since I need it, and then do homework? That would be the clever thing for me to do, yes.

Ooo, math and tea tomorrow, yay!

MOOP!

1: "I am an AustralianMIT girl." "I...uh...I meant..." "Am I not hot?" (Source would like you to take an hour out of your day to watch)

2: My home, anyway. He was a gentleman and biked me home, which reminds me of something someone was saying to me, about it being less dangerous to be a small girl-shaped person on a bike late at night, rather than a small girl-shaped person walking. My counter-argument is that I may be marginally less likely to be attacked by a lurking-in-bushes rapist (seriously, what is up with rapists and bushes?) but riding Blaise means I am suddenly at the mercy of potentially drunk and certainly asinine people in cars, and I'm willing to bet that I am a whole lot more likely to be run over by an asshole than mugged. Especially as I am significantly better at walking (shoulders hunched, curled in my hoodie so as to look non-feminine, walking fast, and paying attention) than biking so far.

3: MIT-Matt, or possibly just Austein, but my brain doesn't always like other people's nicknames for themselves as much as I like nicknames that I create for them. I'm not really sure why I need a nickname for him, since I only ever call Fish Fish, and Matt-wot-lives-in-Atlanta is unlikely to come up in the same conversation (and is named Frosh anyways, and has been for six years now), but dammit, I like renaming people! I am not sure why this is, and it is possibly problematic --should work on that sometime.

(And in general, I don't rename them so much as make their name more elaborate, such as appending the suffix of "-pants" or "-cakes", both as terms of affection.)

At any rate, for those who don't chat with me in real life as often, I met him at Tech Squares, he is cute and awesome and dances, and he is my newest Friend-in-terms-of-"I-want-this-person-to-definitely-be-in-my-life". That was a lot of hyphens.

Calendar's great, but there's only 2 months left of 2010. The first half of 2011 seems to be part of it, but are they full pages?

Full pages, through August of 2011. It is a calendar for schoolchildren, yes.

If you are seriously considering hitting your immune system with rocks, might i suggest a flower root instead? AKA Echinacea, the purple coneflower. It has kept me right on this side of Not Sick for most of this year and you know what sort of stressful year i have had, so that gives you an idea of how marvelous the stuff is. i would even go a step further and insist that for it to do any good, you really ought go with tincture rather than capsules or other pill forms for maximum efficacy. My only issue with doing this was that i do not like the strength of the stuff, but i've found i can put a dropper of it in a shot glass, add water, down it & then repeat and my wussy mouth can deal. Twice a day is good; more is even better. With my memory, i'm lucky to get in once a day but it's been worth it *nods*

You force me to demand to see these and threaten you with Big Sad Ferret Tears if you don't sate my desire!

Biking is totes awesome, and can be surprisingly fun with someone else, solong as your legs aren't dying and they aren't going significantly faster than you.

Heh, poor W with her long long legs and much stronger muscles frequently outpaces me and is forced to cycle in small circles until i catch up and she's gotten realllllyyy good at pedalling Very Slowly until standing almost completely still! ;D

Not to be overly vain, or anything...
But do I have a nickname? Or do I not feature in your life enough to warrant one?

Hey -- sorry I didn't get to say hi at Scottish this evening. Glad to hear about the bike and your getting into riding. It's not a bad ride over to Scottish class, actually -- there is a somewhat nasty hill on College Ave by Tufts (I prefer going that way because of reduced traffic and markedly better road conditions than Warner Ave), but if you have a sufficiently wide gear range it's manageable. I pretty much always go to Scottish straight from work, and end up passing Lesley, so if you're ever interested in riding to class let me know and I'd be happy to go with you.
