You know how a couple months ago I did quotes? Well, that was not even half my quotesfile. So have more!

***

It is instructive to note that those four young gentlemen from Liverpool were already rich and famous when they sang, "love is all you need."

I _love_ this quote. That's because I'm cynical and practical and utterly unromantic, but seriously, it's such a great quote. I found it on some LJ entry sometime --here, it seems.

***

I stole this one from Kyle Cassidy, years ago. If I cannot be logical, I would like people to say this of me.

He was completely impractical, but the house was decorated for conversation.

***

It's not so bad, being the lowest form of life...least it means you can't go any lower.

Out of a Constantine book. I like cynical. I like cynical a lot.

***

...okay, but I also like romantic:

I read once that the ancient Egyptians had fifty words for sand and the Eskimos had a hundred words for snow. I wish I had a thousand words for love, but all that comes to mind is the way you move against me while you sleep & there are no words for that

Maddie found it, and read it aloud, and I kinda went ".......e-mail that to me immediately."

I'm a huge sucker for sleeping(platonic) with people. Every once in a while, it's nice to have that night alone, but I prefer that to be the exception, not the rule. And yeah. Half-waking and nuzzling more against someone I adore, in whatever sense, is such a wonderful thing.

***

This was a particularly artful line from [livejournal.com profile] badmagic --he writes a lot of good lines, but this was particularly nice:

Waltzing is a fine way to finish up a weekend.

I happen to agree. To finish up anything, really.

***

Randy Milholland is not the sort of guy you'd expect to sum up some of my crucial opinions on the world, but here you go:

Why do we have to wait for special moments to say nice things or tell people we care about them?

See also,

Could you imagine how horrible things would be if we always told others how we felt? Life would be intolerably bearable.

***

This right here is what keeps me fighting some days. What _makes_ me fight sometimes, or at the least, gets me through the curling up and hurting so bad I can't function.

It's going to hurt like hell, but you're going to be fine.

It's credited to my mom's college roommate, who's a hell of a woman. I think she said it in my journal at some point, as a comment to something.

***

Man, I love this Marilyn Monroe quote, and when I'm secure, I can believe it. When I'm insecure, well...

I'm selfish, impatient, and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control, and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.

The broken parts of me are bad. Really bad. I am a _messed up_ individual, and it makes every relationship I will ever have hard. My brain doesn't work anything close to right, and I come with a lot of baggage.

But at my best, I am a hell of a person. And I give that as much as I can, but unless you take care of me, you're not going to get my sworn protection.

***

Is it egotistical to use quotes from myself? Probably. But this is super-true, and it is a thing people need to learn:

Focusing on other peoples problems make mine seem less important

See, every once in a while, I hang out with someone, and later post a depressed post, and then they get all worried that they have burdened me with their problems. No. You are bad. I like people, and I like fixing their problems, and I like getting to help. Please let me help, even if I'm sad.

***

The human race will begin solving it's problems on the day that it ceases taking itself so seriously

Why would I not have a Principa Discordia quote in here? It's such a great religious text! Possibly the greatest, certainly the only one I've ever bothered to put serious study into.

***

Dear _everyone ever_. Please take this lesson to heart:

When you look into those eyes and see the direct line to crazy dot com,, it doesn't matter HOW good the sex is.

Luv, Kat.

***

if I cannot dance, I want no part of your revolution.

More dance quote. Yes, I stole it from V for Vendetta, but at least I was decent enough to find the original. (Emma Goldman)

***

One of my older-sister types said this to me once. It's a lovely sentiment:

I don't trust innocent smiles, dear. I use them too often.

***

I'm a big fan of The Notebooks of Lazarus Long --we had a copy of that that I read through over and over, long before I'd actually read any Heinlein. I could arguably put half the entire text into my quotes file and feel pleased about it, but this may very well be my favorite.

Masturbation is cheap, clean, convenient, and free of any possibility of wrongdoing — and you don't have to go home in the cold. But it's lonely.

***

...And to enjoy the traveler's fine sense of crisis.

That's far and away the best thing to come out of my American Lit college course. That course was gawdawful. But I found that quote in one of the texts I had to read, and it's very true --you have to have a sense of adventure if you're going to travel. Otherwise you're doomed.

And that's plenty to leave off with for now. At least another part later, maybe even two! It will be exciting.

Man, i agree with you on the Marilyn Monroe quote on all the points. Yar, i can believe it when i'm feeling secure (rarely), have an extremely hard time when i'm feeling insecure (most of the time).

But at my best, I am a hell of a person. And I give that as much as I can, but unless you take care of me, you're not going to get my sworn protection.

Andyar, it probably explains why i become Ferocious Ferret whenever anyone tries to (including herself) diss my Woozle. She puts up with ALL my Bad Stuff, Always forgives me, is Always there, and still loves me. And for that, she will always have my loyalty, No Matter What.

Hey Har, the good parts of you are worth triple the bad. Maybe even more. Your compassion, your care, your enthusiasm...you are such an amazing ferret.

waxing lyrical

I don't see this as a cynical observation (even if it might have been intended that way); those four young gentlemen had, by that time, experienced enough material success to realize that, in fact, money can't buy you love (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Can%27t_Buy_Me_Love), even if you keep it all in a big brown bag inside a zoo (what a thing to do!) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baby,_You%27re_a_Rich_Man) and never give me any of it (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/You_Never_Give_Me_Your_Money), because love is all you need (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_You_Need_Is_Love) -- yeah, yeah, yeah (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/She_Loves_You) -- notwithstanding that it's only love (and that is all) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/It%27s_Only_Love).

That exact quote came up at the party I was at last night. Where's it from? Google doesn't seem to be aware of its existence.

I totally cited that! I said It was something someone said to Kat, but didn't remember who...that totally counts as an appropirate citation....

Ah, it was you! That makes much more sense --I was racking my brain for someone who had heard it from Mr.Belm and would be at the party and getting *nowhere* fast.

It's one of the best-worded things I've ever heard Mr.Belm say. Ask me offline sometime, I will give you the full context'd tale of drama and woe.

Only if you let me help sometimes.
